Tues 4th August – MARIA ALLCOCK / Bollywood
Our lovely musical theatre teacher Maria doesn’t need much of an introduction, but did you know that after gaining her degree in Musical Theatre from the Southern Theatre Arts Centre she spent time in India entertaining the world as a Bollywood star; appearing in the movies, music videos and becoming a celebrity cheerleader for the IPL team Delhi Daredevils? Well, now you do! And, what’s even better, she’s going to share her experience with you! The industry, the choreography, the moves, the vibe and all the glamour and thrills of Bollywood.
Weds 5th August – AMY GREEN / Voice Artist
After attending the Michala Jane School of Dance, Amy achieved a B.A. Hons degree in Musical Theatre from the London College of Music.
Amy is known for her work as a voice-over artist, where she is the current voice assistant ‘Bixby’ on all Samsung phones and devices internationally. She has also voiced adverts for E.on, Network Rail, VeloCityCycling, O2, Morrisons, Primark, Amazon and many more.
During her sessions she will give you an insight into what you need to get started, some tips and tricks along with you having a little try at some scripts she has worked on. For younger ones she will take a really playful approach to having fun with your voice. You sooooo don’t want to miss this!
Thurs 6th August – SAM LUND / Storytelling & Podcasts
Sam danced with us from the age of 7, gaining many IDTA grades until she moved away to London to study Musical Theatre at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
Since graduating with flying colours, she is now working as an actor developing the work of local and emerging playwrights. She regularly tours and performs in theatres and venues around the UK; with shows such as ‘Bedsitland’ and ‘Miss I’. She also appears in and produces the insightful, compelling and quite often hilarious podcast ‘Coffee and Cults’ with theatre director Jon Nash.
Learn articulation drills, microphone technique, and storytelling and interviewing techniques. The result of the session will be a podcast we have made together! The enjoyment and skills you will learn with Sam will be so useful for all walks of life, whether you’re young or old and of course all sessions will be tailored to the age of the participants.
Fri 7th August – ASHLEY DAVIS / Performance & Singing Skills
Ashley attended the Michala Jane School of Dance for many years, appearing in our Theatre Royal shows and gaining IDTA grades in dance. Since then he has become a professional singer, most famously with the rather amazing ska and reggae band Chainska Brassika. In amongst their achievements they have appeared at Glastonbury, supported Madness on tour and recorded in Jamaica with Toots from Toots & The Maytals – yep, really! Ashley has also featured with various wedding & party bands playing a wide variety of genres, a barbershop quartet and a classical sextet.
The main thing he always tries to keep flowing through his work is; having fun! This is true for himself, but more importantly for the audiences he performs to and the students he teaches. In Ashley’s workshop sessions he’ll be putting emphasis on elevating your performance by discovering how to connect with your audience.
Whatever your skill, be it dancing, singing, playing an instrument or another ability, having a strong focus on your performance will leave everyone (including yourself) with a big smile on their faces! These sessions are going to be real fun!
Sessions on each day will run as follows –
4.00pm – 5.00pm for ages 4 – 8 / 5.15pm – 6.15pm for ages 9 – 14 / 6.30pm – 7.30pm for age 15 to Adult
Perform – Believe – Enjoy ❤️
